The Ministry of Labour, in the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), has introduced legislation governing workplace violence and harassment. This legislation sends a strong message to companies that Ontario will no longer tolerate workplace violence and harassment. It requires all businesses in Ontario with more than five employees to comply with and implement by June 15, 2010 prescribed procedures and programs. Workplaces are being mandated to take action to develop policies, measures, procedures and programs to prevent and manage these risks.
Failure to comply with the mandatory legislative requirements dealing with workplace violence and harassment will expose the business, its management and a Board of Directors to significant penalties and in some cases jail sentences.
The Harassment Education Advisory Response Team (HEART) Program and Manual were designed to give your organization the tools, skills and strategies to meet these legislative requirements and objectives as well as to foster a workplace climate of ZERO TOLERANCE for violence and harassment.
The safety and security of employees in the workplace is essential to promoting a productive, harmonious and successful organization. bizAssessments’ HEART Manual was developed to assist businesses in addressing the sensitive and complex violence and harassment issues that assault many work environments.
